According to multiple clubhouse sources the Boston Red Sox will be holding a player’s only meeting today to decide whether or not to board the plan to Japan. Why you ask? The players are getting 40,000 dollars to go to Japan, the coaches who were orignally suppose to get that (according to sources), are not anymore. Read more here.
Edit: It looks like as of now the Red Sox players are standing behind their coaching staff. The coaching staff was told they were getting the money, but then MLB took it away. MLB also has paid other coaches for the same trip in the past. Read more about it here.
Edit: Looks like the Red Sox win this round against MLB. The coaches will get the 40k that they were promised. It looks like MLB has paid 20k with the Red Sox paying the other half, I think it’s a good decision.
Everyone that says the Red Sox players are being whiny for their whiny managers is crazy. The players weren’t looking for any money, they were looking for money for managers that work just as hard as them, and for a lot less cash.
