Another great Olympic Update
As the Olympics have slowed down, so have I. NBC is scoring killer ratings for the Olympics thus far, and I expect that to come to a screeching halt now that Michael Phelps isn’t around. Anyway on to the update.
- The Chinese keep winning Gymnastics gold, with more controversy than ever. You want to know what the controversy is, I don’t know ask someone that watches that crap.
- Someone wrote an article comparing the 1992 US Men’s basketball team to this year, saying this year can hang. WHAT?! Interesting fact that can should close this argument right now. The ‘92 team never once called a timeout in the entire tournament… If that doesn’t convince you look at the starting lineup for the ‘92 team, Center David Robinson, Forwards Larry Bird and Charles Barkley, and rounding out the team the greatest backcourt ever, Michael Jordan, and Magic Johnson. That article was way off and just didn’t make any sense to me
- Track and Field started with a ban, with Urasin Bolt of Jamica running the first sub 9.7 100m ever. The dude actually pulled up with about 5 meters to go, so that record could have been lower. Many people are saying now he will break the 200m record of 19.32. I doubt this, since the second fastest time, by someone not named Johnson was a 19.62, and Bolt’s fastest was a 19.75. You are telling me he is going to run .43 seconds faster than his personal best. I expect that record to stand.
- We won our first Discus medals, sure it was for the ladies, since the 1932 Olympics.
- The US swept the 400m Hurdles, winning Gold, Silver, and Bronze, unfortunately they missed out on the tin and wood.
- Both US beach volleyball teams are in the finals, I expect two gold medals.
- The Chinese are keeping pace with the US in medals, how I don’t have any idea
- The US won a sailing gold for the first time in 20 year, once again another lady
- The Us won their first wrestling gold of the games with Henry Cejudo winning some weight class thing
- and by the way, Michael Phelps has entered the 10k M race trying to win his 9th Medal, when asked why, he said, I was bored.
